Ban Huak Permanent Border Crossing

Phayao's gateway to Laos, upgraded to a permanent crossing on 10 October 2018.

Collect with AR Directions

The Ban Huak crossing, in Phu Sang sub-district, was once a "relaxed" checkpoint before being raised to a permanent border crossing on 10 October 2018. Directly opposite lies Ban Pang Mon, Khop District, Sainyabuli Province, Lao PDR.

This is Phayao Province’s only trade and travel gateway connecting directly to Laos, about 100 kilometres from the provincial town along the Phayao–Chun–Chiang Kham–Phu Sang road.

Even without crossing, standing for a photograph at the border archway, looking at the boundary markers and taking in the atmosphere of a place at the end of the road is an experience you will not find in any other district.

Highlights

  • The Thai–Lao border archway
  • Photo spot at the boundary marker
  • The feel of trade between two lands
Local tip

If you intend to cross, prepare the required documents and check the crossing’s opening hours in advance.
